Benefits of Boxing

"You don't need to get hit to get fit!!!"

Boxing is a sport that is easily misunderstood. Many people out there, myself included before I tried it, think that it is a brutal sport where you have to accept being punched in the face...and why would anyone want to take part in that willingly??

4 years ago my best friend got me to join him for a boxing based workout after watching him take part in a sanctioned fight. It was a bit intimidating walking into a boxing gym for the first time. But the sights, the smells, the heart pumping music and 1 killer workout had me hooked right from the get go. I thought I was in shape until I started into the boxing world, but 3 days later (and with my body still aching) I wanted to go back for more! I was happy hitting the bag and getting the toughest full body workout of my life. I found a place where I felt I belonged. I found a place where the woman seemed to outnumber the men and they were such an encouraging group.

The truth is...you don't ever have to get into the ring. But the feel of punching a heavy bag or working with a boxing coach on hand pads is quite liberating! It gives you a chance to work out frustrations in a safe and controlled manner. It also gives you an outlet when it comes to mental health; especially when you are working one-on-one with a coach. Boxing is empowering. It builds confidence and self esteem. When you realize that you can punch and the power you hold within yourself, that flows into every aspect of life.

I work with a variety of men, women, teens and kids who just want an awesome workout. Something that is different; an outlet they needed that I could offer. I give them a chance to try something new and a chance to talk if they need a listening ear. The workout itself will put a huge smile on your face and your sense of accomplishment and pride will flourish.
